Hierarchy Group were presented with an opportunity to redevelop Guide Hill Station's existing homestead nestled within the beautiful Mackenzie Basin and situated between two of the great blue lakes, Pukaki and Tekapo.

Conceived as a home to maximise the connection with the site’s natural beauty, the house is nestled within the landscape, terracing down towards the surrounding forest.
The roof appears to float, opening up to the extreme elements as well as maximising views, while the centralised bluestone spine wall weaves between public and private spaces. Each room directs views away from the other to enhance the feeling of isolation and exposure for the occupant.
